Fall Registration is Now OPEN!
UCEA
6/19/2020
The Unified Collegiate Esports Association, or UCEA, has opened registration for the Tier One Fall tournaments! Fall of 2020 will feature Rocket League, CS:GO and Overwatch! All Tier One institutions will have a shot at joining the Fall tournaments to compete for various prize pools. Each individual tournament will have a team registration fee that goes directly towards the prize pool. Prize pools are paid out to the top four teams of each tournament.
In July, UCEA will also be releasing the tournaments for the Tier Two institutions. These tournaments will have lower fees and lower prize pools. Tier Two tournaments are made for club and JV teams that are not quite ready for the level of Tier One, but we want to provide competition we believe in for every type of program. Since the tiers are based on the institution itself, Tier One institutions will be allowed to enter teams into Tier Two tournaments. However, these teams will not be the same ones that are entered into Tier One tournaments. With tournaments running at the same times, no single team will be allowed to play in more than one tournament of the same game. This is simply to enable Tier One institutions to place their JV or club teams (teams they don't associate with their varsity program) into UCEA tournaments. Below you will find more details on each tournament along with the links to register!
In order to make the Fall semester a bit easier on institutions that are facing the consequences of COVID-19, we have put a few different rules in place.
- All Week One matches will not count towards the institution's record or seeding for playoffs. They will still be played, but will operate at a "warm-up" or "pre-season" week. Each match that is impacted by this will be noted in the details below.
- Registration will stay open until the beginning of Week Two of each competition. While it is in our mission to create solidified competition for our tournaments weeks in advance, nobody could predict the pandemic. In order to create the fewest amount of negative repercussions for the students, we want to be as flexible as possible while still providing a semester of competition. With registration already being open, it is our goal to make all times and dates known months ahead of time. Institutions will not know their exact opponents for the semester until Week Two, but all times and dates will stay solidified. It is our hope that this allows institutions some wiggle room while also still being able to plan everything ahead of time.
- Payments will be extended. Budgets are still unclear for Fall, so teams will be allowed an extended amount of time to pay for the team entry fees. While teams will not be allowed to compete in the tournament until they have paid, we will work with each individual institution to work on the plan.
- Spring 2021 tournaments will be released in the next 6-8 weeks. To help plan for the year overall, we will ensure the Spring 2021 tournament information is released prior to August 31st. As we move forward, all tournaments will continue to be released months prior to their start dates, but it is vital for the upcoming school year so programs can remove some of the unknown that they re facing.
