Player Highlight: Flux, Cornell College

Seth "Fatcat" Coggins 4/5/2025

Kyle "Flux" Neumann, captain of Cornell College's Rocket League team, has been with his program for four years. He has competed in NACE, CAA, NECC, MVEC, Intel Inspires, multiple LANS, and the MEC. He won the Iowa Clash under the team name 'Monkey Men,' and has been the student director for Cornell College's Esports program for the past three years. "It's been a great way for me to make connections, compete, and grow as an individual." Says Neumann, when asked about his experience with collegiate Esports and the MEC. "I like the production quality of MEC as my parents love being able to watch professionally cast games complete with player interviews. It’s also been fun to be able to see the other teams at Cornell go up against the same college on a week-week basis, creating a stronger sense of unity within the program." I asked Neumann if he had any advice for new players interested in the MEC, and he said to enjoy the ride, "The MEC will only keep growing and the LAN experiences are always super fun."

Rival to Watch

I asked Neumann who he believed Cornell's biggest rival is, and which matches to watch out for. “I would consider Simpson College a rival within the conference. Simpson is a college close to Cornell geographically and we play against them frequently in other leagues as well. Additionally, their skill is close to ours so it’s always an exciting match.”
